Editorial

Welcome to an Education Vector with a difference! The difference is that most of this issue is devoted to a language which is not APL. It will come as no surprise to our readers to learn that the "intruder" is J. Indeed I am delighted to publish the promised article by Donald McIntyre "J: A First Lesson".

I can say without hesitation that everyone who studies this article will find new insights and a new understanding of the language — I certainly did. Of course it helps to have the J interpreter on your computer, and for those looking for a low-cost introductory package we hope soon to have available the interpreter, together with papers by Donald McIntyre, on one disk.

I am also pleased to include in this issue a delightful excursion into the world of Prime Numbers by Ted Emms.
