The British APL Association keeps its membership records on a computer and relies on conditional exemption from the Act:

"(ii) data held by unincorporated members' clubs and relating only to club members."

[Guideline to the Data Protection Act 1984 page 24]

In order to qualify for such exemption the British APL Association is required to have asked each "Data Subject" whether they object to our use of the data we hold about them and they must not have objected.

The British APL Association is also required to monitor the situation to ensure that the conditions of the exemption continue to be met.

If you object to our holding your membership details on our computer, please write to us to let us know. We shall then remove your details from our computer. The consequence of this would be that you would be omitted from all future mailings.
