Editorial

The copy for this issue of the ASL Newsletter is being compiled as preparations for the third ASL Statistics Conference near completion and I shall be discussing the topics that we hope to cover at the conference. A number of us who are involved in the ASL project have just returned from APL91 at Stanford University and, in common with other articles in this issue of Vector, we shall report on the ASL presentation at APL91.

We take the opportunity to reprint David Appleton's article on Stirling Numbers which was savaged by the printers in an earlier issue of Vector and finally Tony O'Hagan steps down as ASL Chairman with some parting thoughts.
