“APL Under Windows”

I think someone should take STSC (and in the UK their agents Cocking and Drury) severely to task for making potentially misleading statements in a series of press releases about APL*PLUS/PC release 10. In particular, my attention was brought to this by a banner headline in “PC Shopper” magazine:

APL Under Windows

… reading on I quickly discovered that this referred simply to APL*PLUS/PC, and in my view anyone who bought the product and subsequently found that the documentation quite explicitly stated “This will run under Windows as a non-Windows application” would be justifiably annoyed. You know and I know that APL*PLUS release 9 runs quite happily under Windows, but this surely does not excuse such a blatant attempt to con the public into making yet another unnecessary upgrade.
