Editorial

Welcome to this edition of Education Vector. As you know from previous discussion in these columns, committee members of the British APL Association have been looking carefully at the current expenditure involved in producing and posting Education Vector. The results of the survey, and letters sent to me indicate that most people appreciate Education Vector in its present form. The committee wish to continue the present distribution lists as far as possible, but are aware of the not insignificant cost of postage, both to readers in this country and particularly abroad.

After much careful thought the decision taken was that in the first place I should take this opportunity to encourage receivers of Education Vector to consider becoming members of the British APL Association for an annual cost of only £10 (£5 student rate). That way you would receive full information concerning the activities of the APL community both at home and abroad in the quarterly issues of VECTOR, which of course includes Education Vector as well as a new section on the progress of the APL Statistics Library project.

Secondly, for those readers abroad who are not able to take up this option, the committee agreed to continue posting Education Vector to anybody that wrote to us asking us so to do. So please send me a postcard or letter as outlined below.

Once again I hope readers will find something of interest in the following pages. I am indebted to those who have sent in comments and contributions; please continue to share your experiences in using APL by writing to the editor.
