Another Year Ahead¶
Another academic year looms ahead as I write this editorial: buckets and spades have been packed away. My teaching courses will probably involve the supervision of over 150 students either using APL statistical functions or actually learning to program in APL. So, writing this edition has helped me to get in the mood.
Since the last edition (JULY's not APRIL's!) I have had quite a few letters and I have included as many as I can. Once again, I invite you to send your contributions. It is helpful if you are able to present them as near as possible in a form suitable for inclusion in Education Vector as I have limited time to spend actually editing material.
Once again I have included a puzzle corner which I hope will provoke some interesting communications from readers. Thank you to all readers who have taken the trouble to write to me, either with puzzle solutions, or with general comments on what they have been doing with APL in education. If I have not included your contributions so far, please forgive me for the omission as it is not always easy to do all you want to do in a severely limited amount of spare time. Might I suggest a gentle reminder in the form of another copy?
Help wanted urgently
Greg Morse has just completed the OS9 port of I-APL. Do you have an OS9 computer, a little skill in handling its operating system and some time to help turn a completed port into a stock of disks ready for the mailing house to supply against cash with order?
If so please telephone Anthony Camacho on [telephone number omitted].
