Reviews Section¶
Both reviews in this VECTOR are related to the user-interface. Dyalog APL has been greatly enhanced by the inclusion of a ‘modern’ approach to the APL session. This at long last brings APL into line with the vast majority of PC language products (from Quick-C to Turbo Prolog) and will I hope set the tone for all the major PC APL systems in the future.
Powertools has long been an option for those who need to wring the last ounce of power from their PC APL systems. You can now use their CUA routines to develop APL systems that look just like Windows, OS/2, and anything else that supports the CUA/Graphics standards.
Finally, we have a summary of a recent publication ‘APL with a Mathematical Accent’, and (continuing the user interface theme) we have received a review copy of ‘The Computer Display Designers Handbook’ by Eric Wagner. This will be reviewed in Vector 7.2.
