Win A Free Trip to APL90 In Denmark!¶

As part of this year's campaign to recruit new members, the British APL Association is running a PRIZE DRAW open to all existing UK members who manage to convince another APLer of the advantages of joining!

All you have to do is to introduce a new member before 1st February 1990 and your name will be entered in the Draw to win a fabulous free trip to next year's International APL Conference!

The Conference will be held from 13th to 17th August 1990 at the Marienlyst Hotel, Helsingor, near Copenhagen, and the lucky winner will travel out at the British APL Association's expense from anywhere in the UK. As well as having the delegate fee paid for by the British APL Association, accommodation and meals at the Marienlyst for the duration of the Conference will also be included.

Helsingor is a picturesque but thriving seaside town on the North coast of Denmark. It has plenty to offer the visitor: a historic port, nearby beaches and scenic countryside, a mediaeval 'Old Town' with cobbled streets, numerous parks, museums and monuments, and a plethora of cafes, restaurants and shops.

The theme of the Conference at Helsingor is 'APL For The Future', and the emphasis will be on the importance of APL as a tool for Information Management in the next decade. As well as presentations designed to illustrate this, there will be plenty of opportunity to meet and exchange experiences and ideas with other APLers from all over the world!

You can enter your name in the Draw each time you persuade someone new to join up! The more new members you sign up, the more chances you have of winning! But they must be genuine NEW members and not lapsed members who are rejoining. Photocopy the form on the opposite page and complete a copy for each new member who joins through you.

Membership of the British APL Association is open to anyone interested in APL. The membership year runs from 1st May to 30th April. This form may be photocopied: send one form for each new member you introduce.

Rules¶

This competition is not open to members of the BAA committee, the Vector Working Group, or their families. If, for some reason, the winner is unable to make use of the prize trip to APL90, then a cash sum of £500 will be offered instead. The closing date for receipt of entries is 1st February 1990.
