Provisional Topics for BAA Meetings¶
The following is a preliminary list of topics suggested at the AGM on 21st April:
- Applications of 2nd generation APLs. A selection of speakers demonstrating how the newer APL features can enhance productivity in substantial applications.
- Design of large APL systems. Considerations of workspace structure; function modularity; data structures; file systems; end-user screens etc. (Illustrated with practical applications.)
- Progress in APL standards work. A review of the standards committee work since the publication of the first draft standard. Progress to date, and where next?
- APL at British Airways. A review of some of their major applications using APL. (This meeting might be held at Heathrow where a full demonstration of the systems would be possible.)
- APL - another year on. The major APL suppliers to report on the past year, and on what goodies they have coming along for us. (This is likely to be the penultimate meeting of the BAA year.)
A number of other suggestions were made which are still being considered, and a firm programme will be draw up and included in VECTOR 6.1 (July 1989). If any members who were unable to attend the AGM have further ideas for meeting topics, please let me know as soon as you can at the address / phone number on the inside back cover.
