Like most APLers, I have felt the need to spread the word about APL (sometimes with a missionary-like zeal!!). In the past this was not easy becase of a number of difficulties, particularly with the APL font. However with the common availability of IBM PC’s and compatibles with soft font capability, this is no longer a problem. Now is the time if at all that APL can be brought to a wider audience.
To this end I have just started an APL conference on CIX. CIX, or rather the Compulink Information Exchange is the largest computer based conference system in the UK. It currently offers over 200 active conferences on a diverse range of subjects. CIX is quite easy to use, and is available throughout the UK.
I invite the APL community to take an active part in this conference, to help spread the word about APL and to facilitate the exchange of ideas amoung APLers
CIX can be joined by simply dialling (01) 399-5252 with a V21/V22/V23 modem and then enrolling on-line. For those outside the London area CIX can be contacted via your local Mercury X25 node, you do not have to have a Mercury account.
I can be contacted on [telephone number omitted], or send messages to [CIX address omitted] on CIX
Yours sincerely
Craig Lomas
