Suggested Topics for BAA Meetings

The following is my first attempt at collating the suggestions I received at the AGM on 29th April.

• Tutorial session. Two speakers before tea on fairly technical (specific) topics, then an open session (maybe with an informal panel) on anything anyone wants to ask.
• APL and the Outside World. Topics such as parallel processing, relational databases, expert systems.
• APL in Education. Teaching APL to newcomers, further training in advanced techniques, APL in further education. This will probably be an evening meeting, to give teachers more chance to attend.
• APL - the next 5 years. Representatives from the major suppliers to tell us what they are working on, and what they expect to bring to the market soon.
• Applications in APL. Four speakers, relating their experiences in implementing a variety of APL systems.

As regards the actual dates, October 21st will be the Tutorial Session, since this follows so closely on the heels of Canterbury. The mapping of the remaining topics to the remaining dates will be published in VECTOR 5.2 (November 88).
