This section of VECTOR is reserved for communications of a general nature. Letters which require a high technical knowledge of APL or contain APL code usually appear in the Technical Section: please note the requirements stated on the inside front cover. The editor reserves the right to edit letters unless the author states that a letter is to be published in full or not at all.
Sir: Just a short note to thank you for the copy of the last issue of VECTOR (Vol.1, No. 2), containing my presentation at APL84 of the book Mr. Babbage’s Secret as well as the description of its contents. It may interest you to know that Prentice-Hall, Inc., has taken over the international rights of the book outside Scandinavia, and that they will publish a new edition in the early spring of 1985.
In closing permit me to express my appreciation of the publication by the British APL Association of an European journal devoted to APL. I feel convinced that this initiative will arouse much interest among Scandinavian APL users.
Sincerely yours,
Ole Immanuel Franksen

Sir:What a distressing rule to find, that Committee members are prohibited from entering VECTOR competitions; may I suggest a revised rule, that Committee members are actually obliged to supply entries (whether a subrule prohibiting them from winning anything would then be required I leave to the readers’ discretion).
Yours sincerely,
Dick Bowman,
CEGB,
