Minutes of the meeting of the Committee of the British APL Association held on 18 May 2001 at the Royal Statistical Society

It was agreed that business could be settled by the Committee by email but that the Chairman should insist on the formality of a reply from everyone; proposals should not be agreed without everyone’s opinion being on record.

It was agreed that we would propose at the AGM to raise fees for next year (2002-2003) to £20 for individual members, to leave the corporate membership at £100 but reduce the number of Vectors included to 5 (which the corporate could increase by paying more), and increase sustaining membership to £500.

It was agreed that we would revert to a fixed date each year for renewals and, for the members whose year was different, offer to allow them to pay either the fraction or 1+ the fraction of a year’s subscription to bring them into synchronisation.

It was agreed that the Committee would be the same as last year except that Ian Clark would be asked to serve as ‘minister without portfolio’ and the Chairman would ask Norman Thomson to be Education Officer on the understanding he would not be expected to travel to London.

It was agreed that the Web site could carry relevant advertisements with links to, say, APL vendors and it was agreed to leave detailed arrangements to the Webmaster and Chairman.

It was agreed the BAA would help with VikAPL and would look into the practicality of holding a two-day event early in September. The suggested venue is the Lake District – maybe Kendal.

The Committee re-appointed John Sullivan to audit the accounts for 2000–2001.
