We at Manugistics appreciate the effort lavished by Ray Cannon in preparing his review of the MS Window interface in version 4 of APL*PLUS II for Vector 9.3. The article contains useful technical information and insights on Windows programming. The issues that he raises about the performance and ease of using our first Windows interface are fair, and we have been working very hard for the past fourteen months to address them.

We believe that we succeeded on this front when we completed version 5 in November 1992, and the praise we have been receiving from version 5 users seems to bear this out. As Vector 9.3 arrived in the U.S., we had nearly completed version 5.1, a signifcant improvement on 5.0 with important new features.

In this context, it came as a bit of a disappointment to be reading of shortcomings of version 4 that are long forgotten here. I recognize the difficulties of a quarterly publication in keeping pace with rapidly evolving software. But if there is any way the we can assist Vector in providing more up-to-the-minute information, we will do our best to oblige.
